Broken Friendships

Dear Friend,

I need your advice. I have a great best friend who I've known forever. She's fun to hang out with and we always share everything. Now I have to make a choice. 

There is a group of really popular girls at school. They have promised to let me into their group, but on one condition. I have to give them Michele's(not her real name) e-mail password. 

I know Michele would be pretty upset if I did this, but I am desperate to be popular for once In my life. What could they do with her e-mail password anyhow? I'll Just tell Michele to change It after I give it to them anyway.

Dear Friend,

I think you should not give these girls Michele's password because you don't know what these girls might do with her password, they could send discriminating messages to people in the school to get Michele in a lot of trouble. These girls can send discriminating pictures to boys and have boys in school looking at her crazy and talking about her saying she's this and that. 

They can hack her out her own page and changing everything on it, these girls might not like her. Did you even tell Michele your thinking about giving these girls her password. My friend if you want to keep Michele as a friend I strongly suggest you do not give these girls Michele password. 

Michele gave you her password because she trusted that you wouldn't get on her account and write discriminating things to people. I know you want be popular but your friendship is more valuable then popularity. Don't give those girls Michele's password because you will regret it.

Be forgiving of other people's mistakes.

Forgive them of there mistakes and move on.

don't criticize them for there mistakes.

Forgive them of the mistake and help them out.

• don't go through peoples stuff online unless they say you can.

• have respect for them and there privacy.

• don't post information about people they don't want posted.

Be Honest!: don't lie on the internet, you should be truthful, don't be anyone or do anything that you would not do in person.

• Not telling the truth on your web page or cyber social page could have risky out comes like lying  about your age could attract old and mature people.
• You should not say things that you would not or could not say in person someone could learn your lie and use it against you.
• Don't lie about who you are on the internet because it could be hard for you to make friends that way, if they think that you are someone on Facebook and  find out that you are someone else in person, you could be bullied for being a lair  and a creep. 

Netiquette Rule #2

Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life.

Talk as though you are talking to your parents.

Don't get out of line when you get into cyberspace.

Have respect for everyone.  

Netiguette Defintion

Netiquette is a combination of the words internet and etiquette. Netiquette is simply the proper etiquette used in cyber space.

• Netiquette is necessary because the internet is a kind of culture; and all cultures have certain rules and regulations that must be followed.

• People who are new to the internet often make mistakes because they are not familiar with proper netiquette. 

•  It is unacceptable to intentionally break netiquette rules, and it is important that all cyber citizens familiarize themselves with these rules.

 

Netiquette Rule #1

It is not proper netiquette to rudely correct someone's grammatical mistake.

e.g- "You meant to say *they're*  not  *there*, idiot."

• This kind of correction is rude, and it hurts the person's feelings.
• It makes the person making the correction seem insensitive and cruel.
• No one likes a troll.
